Services
The mission of LVSC is to foster and enhance adult and family literacy through the efforts of a corps of trained volunteer tutors, and paid teachers who assist adults functioning at the lowest literacy levels. Further proficiency in English as a Second Language for those who desire it, is a provided services free of charge.
Basic Literacy
Our Adult Literacy program offers students the opportunity to be tutored one-on-one. There is a pressing need for our services in Sullivan County, as about one in five members of the population lacks basic literacy skills.
GED Classes
We help prepare adults 17 and over to take the GED High School Equivalency test. We offer instruction in both classroom and one on one sessions
English as a Second Language
We have a culturally diverse population in Sullivan County with 28% of our residents speaking languages other than English. We offer classes, as well as one -on-one and small group tutoring
